Delving into Beirut’s underground, «Panoptic» explores Lebanon’s schizophrenia. Depicting a nation thriving for modernity while ignoring the vices preventing it from achieving its goals, director Rana Eid examines this paradox through sound, iconic monuments and secret hideouts.

︎ Background Article on the Norient Space

«Through the film, Rana Eid underscores the importance of listening. Composed by Nadim Mishlawi, the musical score is woven seamlessly into the lush sequence of sounds, as if to reflect the musicality of the city. In that regard, the film is all-hearing as much as it is all-seeing.»
